Elderly Man Killed in Salinas Bicycle Accident on San Juan Grade Road near Boronda Road
Salinas, California (September 10, 2021) – An elderly cyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday in Salinas, according to the Salinas Police Department.
The deadly accident took place on San Juan Grade Road near Boronda Road on Thursday, September 9.
Police said a 91-year-old man was riding his bicycle on San Juan Grade Road towards Boronda Road when he allegedly turned directly in front of a car that was traveling behind him.
The car reportedly failed to avoid the collision and struck the bicyclist.
Fatal Bicycle Accident on San Juan Grade Road in Salinas
The elderly man was transported to a hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit before he succumbed to his injuries. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The driver involved stopped at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said.
