Santa Ana Man Dies in High-Speed Crash near Harbor Boulevard and Croddy Way

, CA. – 25-year-old Reuben Contreras died, and another person was injured in a high-speed collision that happened Saturday morning near an intersection in Santa Ana, the County Coroner's Office reported.

The wreck occurred around 9:20 a.m. near Harbor Boulevard and Croddy Way.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, a Toyota Camry sedan was waiting to make a left turn in the middle of the road. As the sedan started to turn into a parking lot, an oncoming speeding GMC pickup truck crashed into the car.

The truck overturned, and the sedan was sent by the force of the impact into a light pole, knocking it down.

Both vehicles were totaled and stopped near the side of the road.

Emergency personnel found Contreras trapped in the wreckage, unresponsive.

The Santa Ana man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the pickup truck was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Drugs and alcohol were not considered to be contributing factors.

Police officers are investigating the collision.
