Rachel Gonzalez-Gallegos identified as a pregnant woman killed in a DUI collision on Leavesley Road near New Avenue in Gilroy
Gilroy, CA. – Rachel Gonzalez-Gallegos, 29, has been identified as the pregnant woman who died in a collision involving a suspected DUI driver on New Year's Day in Gilroy.
The fatal accident happened on Leavesley Road near New Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A speeding GMC pickup truck reportedly drifted across the double yellow lines on Leavesley Road and collided head-on with a Chevrolet SUV.
Gallegos was a passenger inside the Chevrolet SUV and was killed in the accident.
The woman's unborn child also died in the crash.
The pickup truck driver, 50-year-old Jesus Carlos Temores, is believed to have been driving while under the influence of alcohol and now faces murder charges.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
