According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported around 8:52 p.m. at East Alessandro Boulevard and Brown Street, just north of Interstate 215.
A possible homeless person was struck by a vehicle in the northbound lanes of Alessandro Boulevard under unclear circumstances. The victim was lying in the No. 2 lane after the accident.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and closed all westbound lanes of traffic.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with major injuries, the report said.
No other details were given, but an investigation is ongoing.
