Benton County, WA. – A pedestrian was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash Friday night in Benton County.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at around 10:15 p.m. on the northbound State Route 221.
The police said the pedestrian was walking in the northbound lane of the highway when in unclear circumstances they were hit by a vehicle. The driver of the car fled the scene before the officers arrived.
The victim suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for treatment.
The identity of the victim was not immediately disclosed.
No additional information about the crash was provided.
An investigation is underway.
