68-Year-Old Oxnard Man Critically Hurt in Oxnard Crash on Rice Avenue and Camino Del Sol
Oxnard, California (August 19, 2021) – A man suffered major injuries in a traffic collision involving a big rig in Oxnard on Wednesday morning, according to a report by the Oxnard Police Department.
The crash was reported in the area of Rice Avenue and Camino Del Sol at about 9:45 a.m. August 18.
Police said a semi-trailer, driven by a 62-year-old Ventura man, was southbound on Rice Avenue when he tried to make a left turn onto Camino Del Sol and was broadsided by a pickup truck traveling northbound on Rice Avenue.
Driver Critically Injured in Oxnard Big Rig Crash
The pickup became wedged under the big rig's trailer and its driver, a 68-year-old Oxnard man, had to be extricated from the wreckage by firefighters. The driver was transported to Ventura County Medical Center with critical injuries.
Lanes were closed in the area for several hours as authorities worked at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
