According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 7:04 p.m. on the eastbound Interstate 80 at the Greenback Lane on-ramp.
A Volkswagen sedan and an SUV were involved in the collision.
One person sustained severe injuries in the accident. Paramedics transported the patient to the hospital in an unknown condition.
CHP officers are investigating the accident.
