Officer Harminder Grewal Injured in Deadly Sacramento Crash on Highway 99 near Dillard Road
Sacramento, California (August 23, 2021) – Officer Harminder Grewal of the Galt Police Department sustained critical injuries in a deadly collision on Sunday morning in south Sacramento, according to authorities.
The incident took place at around 4:35 a.m. August 22, on Highway 99 near Dillard Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Manjot Singh Thind, 25, of Manteca was driving a Dodge Ram pickup southbound on Highway 99 when he crashed through the center divider into the northbound side and collided head-on with a northbound Galt police patrol vehicle.
The police vehicle had two occupants and was heading to the Caldor Fire.

Thind was pronounced deceased at the scene. His two passengers, a 26-year-old from Dublin and a 26-year-old from Turlock, were both taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
Officer Harminder Grewal was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. The other officer, Kapri Herrera, was also hospitalized with critical injuries and was said to be in stable condition on Monday.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
