Motorcyclist Dies in Ocotillo Wells Crash at State Route 78 and Borrego Springs Road

Ocotillo Wells, California (October 31, 2023) – A man was killed and another was injured in a motorcycle accident in Ocotillo Wells on Saturday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported at around 10:10 a.m. on a privately maintained road located between State Route 78 and Borrego Springs Road.

Authorities say a 20-year-old man from Carlsbad was riding a 2006 KTM motorcycle westbound while at the same time, another 20-year-old man from Carlsbad, was riding a 2002 Yamaha WR250 north from a private residence.

The Yamaha rider failed to see the KTM approaching and the two bikes collided.

The impact of the crash ejected both riders and both were severely injured.

The man riding the KTM sadly died at the accident scene.

The Yamaha driver was flown to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.

No other information regarding the incident was provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
