A nine-year-old girl in the rear passenger seat was transported to a local hospital with major injuries
Fresno, CA. – 28-year-old Michelle Lawrence has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner's Office as the woman who died in a car crash at an intersection near Selma on Saturday night.
The fatal collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Floral and Willow avenues.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Saul Galvez Diaz was driving a car eastbound on Floral Avenue when he drifted across the center line and collided head-on with a Nissan traveling westbound.
Lawrence, a Fresno resident, was in the front passenger seat of Diaz's vehicle and was transported to a local hospital where she died while receiving treatment.
A nine-year-old girl in the rear passenger seat was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
Diaz was hospitalized with moderate injuries. He was later determined to be under the influence of alcohol and will be arrested on suspicion of DUI upon release from the hospital.
The driver and front passenger of the Nissan were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
