Mariana Godinez ID’d as Driver Killed in Fresno Crash on Highway 99 near Jensen Avenue
Fresno, California (August 23, 2021) – The woman who was killed after crashing into the back of a semi-truck in southwest Fresno early Monday morning has been identified as Mariana Godinez, 28, of Reedley, according to the authorities.
The incident happened shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Highway 99, just south of Jensen Avenue.
According to California Highway Patrol, Godinez was driving a blue four-door southbound on the highway when she rear-ended a semi-truck for unknown reasons.
The car became wedged underneath the truck following the collision.
The car was pulled out from beneath the truck by emergency responders.

Godinez was declared dead at the scene.
Authorities believe the driver of the truck was over the speed limit when the accident happened.
The accident is under investigation.
