Salinas, CA.- The pedestrian who was hit and killed by an ambulance in Salinas on Tuesday morning has been identified as Maria Morales, 41, of Salinas, according to the sheriff's office.
The incident took place at about 3:29 p.m. January 28, on Abbott Street, south of Harris Road.
According to the report, Morales stepped into the roadway for, unknown reasons, and was hit by an American Medical Response ambulance traveling south on Abbott Street.
The 33-year-old Templeton driver of the red/white Ford Transit ambulance swerved to avoid the pedestrian but the right front of the vehicle hit the pedestrian.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
