Man Killed in Santa Barbara Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 near Dos Pueblos Canyon

County, CA. – A man was killed following a pedestrian accident on Thursday afternoon east of Gaviota, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department officials.

The deadly crash happened at around 12:30 p.m. on southbound Highway 101, near Dos Pueblos Canyon.

Police said a man was entering a vehicle parked on the shoulder of Highway 101 when he was sideswiped by a passing vehicle.

Efforts to resuscitate the man by bystanders were futile. The bystanders included a cardiologist, two electrical linemen with an automated external defibrillator (AED) device.

The man was declared dead at the crash site.

The involved driver stayed at the scene after the accident.

Police closed the number two lane on southbound Highway 101 as authorities investigated the accident.

An investigation is ongoing.
