Oxnard, CA – A man was killed and two people hospitalized after a traffic collision at an intersection in Oxnard Saturday night.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, the crash happened at around 9:45 p.m. January 18 at Victoria and Doris Avenues.

Reportedly, a 19-year-old Angel Zamudio was driving a silver Nissan Cube that collided with a white Toyota Sienna minivan operated by Wuyu Zhu, 55, of Oxnard.

A male passenger in the Toyota succumbed to his injuries following the collision, while the driver, Zhu, was taken to County Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

Zamudio, also a resident of Oxnard, suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.

The police said excessive speed and alcohol may have played critical roles in the collision.

Police arrested Zamudio for suspected alcohol impairment and subsequently booked him into Ventura County Jail on charges related to driving under the influence.

An investigation is underway.
