Man Killed in Van Nuys Accident on 405 Freeway near Sherman Way
Van Nuys, California (October 30, 2023) – A man was killed in a wrong-way accident early Monday morning on 405 Freeway in Van Nuys.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at around 4:38 a.m. on the northbound San Diego Freeway north of Sherman Way.
Per the preliminary report, a man was headed northbound on the freeway when his car hit the center divider and stopped facing the wrong way.
His car was struck by other vehicles.
The unidentified man was declared dead at the scene.
Some other people suffered minor injuries in the crash.
A SigAlert was issued at around 4:57 a.m. shutting down all northbound lanes at Sherman Way for the investigation and clean up.
An investigation is ongoing.

Van Nuys, California (October 30, 2023) – At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision involving a wrong-way vehicle early Monday morning in Van Nuys.
The fatal crash happened on the 405 Freeway at Sherman Way at around 5 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Initial reports indicate that a wrong-way driver may have slammed into the center divider before it was struck by several vehicles.
CHP says one person was killed in the accident.
