Luis Pacheco Dies in Collision on Highway 60 near Meridian Road in Apache Junction
Apache Junction, AZ. – The Arizona Department of Public Safety has identified 19-year-old Luis Daniel Pacheco as the motorist killed in a crash in Apache Junction Thursday evening.
The collision happened at around 6 p.m. December 26 on State Route 60 near Meridian Road.
Pacheco was driving a car eastbound on US 60 when he was struck from behind.
The impact caused Pacheco's car to roll across the median into the westbound lanes.
Pacheco was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from his car. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
Both directions of the freeway were closed for several hours at Ironwood Drive but fully reopened around 10:20 p.m.
The accident remains under investigation.
