Juan Menjivar and Ana Moreno Santos Killed in Truck Accident on 5 Freeway near 405 Freeway in Sylmar
Sylmar, California (August 16, 2021) – The authorities have disclosed the identities of a man and woman who were killed in a car crash in Sylmar early Sunday morning.
The double-fatal crash happened along the 5 Freeway near the 405 Freeway interchange at about 12:57 a.m. August 15.
The California Highway Patrol said 37-year-old Juan Carlos Menjivar, of Winnetka, was driving a silver 2010 Lexus on the freeway when he lost control at a curve and crashed into the rear of a 2007 Dart International big rig truck that was parked on the right shoulder.

Menjivar and his passenger, 33-year-old Ana Elena Moreno Santos, of Los Angeles, were decapitated in the crash.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The 35-year-old Georgia man driving the big rig was unhurt.
