Authorities Identified Jae Kim as Victim Fatally Hurt in Phelan Crash on Highway 138 at Hess Road

Phelan, California (October 30, 2023) – The Coroner’s office has identified Jae Gyu Kim, 81, of Hawaiian Gardens as a man killed in Phelan Saturday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly crash at around 3:59 p.m. October 14 on State Route 138 at Hess Road.

Reportedly, two pickup trucks were involved in the collision. However, the reports did not state the manner in which they collided.

Kim was severely hurt and was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he was declared dead.

An investigation is underway.

San Bernardino, California (October 14, 2023) – One person was killed after a car crash Saturday evening on Highway 138 in San Bernardino.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on State Route 138 and Hess Road at around 7:41 p.m.

Two pickup trucks collided in the area in unclear circumstances.

One person was killed in the accident.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.
