Goleta Man Jose Estrada Injured in Ventura Bicycle Crash Last Week Recovering From Injuries
Ventura, California (September 26, 2023) – A Ventura bicyclist who was severely injured after being struck by a bus in Ventura last week is recovering and is expected to survive, according to a police report.
64-year-old Jose Campos Estrada was riding his bicycle westbound on Telegraph Road near Joanne Avenue when a bus knocked him down at around 9:50 a.m. on Saturday, September 21.
According to the Ventura Police Department, the Ventura County Transportation Commission bus was passing the bicycle when it struck its handlebars, knocking Estrada down. The bus’s rear wheels then ran over Estrada.
Estrada sustained major injuries to his lower body and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center.

Ventura, California (September 24, 2023) – A bicyclist was critically injured in a bus accident in Ventura on Thursday morning, according to the authorities.
The crash took place at around 9:50 a.m. September 21, on Telegraph Road and Joanne Avenue.
A Ventura County Transportation Commission bus was reportedly westbound on Telegraph Road when it tried to overtake the cyclist and ended up hitting the bicycle’s handlebars.
The rider was ejected onto the ground following the crash.
The victim, a 64-year-old old Goleta man, was hospitalised with major injuries to his lower body.
The driver of the bus, Edgar Eduardo Landeros, 33, of Oxnard, was later located and arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail.
The accident is under investigation.
