Glendale, AZ. – A girl died, and her sister is in critical condition after they were struck by a vehicle Friday night near an intersection in Glendale.
Kaliyah Reyes, 12, and her sister Delilah Marquez, 14, were hit by a car around 9:20 p.m. near 59th Avenue and Greenway Road.
The girls were crossing the street mid-block outside a crosswalk when they were struck.
Both victims were hospitalized in extremely critical condition.
The girls' family later said they were informed by doctors that Kaliyah was brain dead. The family reportedly decided to remove her from life-support shortly after.
Delilah remained hospitalized in critical condition. She was in a coma for three days but woke up Monday.
The sisters were walking home from watching a football game when the accident occurred.
The driver stopped and remained at the scene. Glendale police said there were no signs of impairment, and no charges are expected to be filed against the motorist.
