According to a preliminary investigation, an eastbound Acura CL driven by Zamora lost control and drifted into the right side of the roadway before overcorrecting into the oncoming lane, where it collided head on with an oncoming Toyota Avalon driven by Spiller.
Yamhill County, OR. – 22-year-old Giovanni Zamora was killed and 21-year-old Mary Spiller seriously injured in head-on collision on Highway 18 in Yamhill County on Saturday morning.
According to the Oregon State Police, the mishap happened at around 7:30 a.m. on State Route 18 near milepost 58.
According to a preliminary investigation, an eastbound Acura CL driven by Zamora lost control and drifted into the right side of the roadway before overcorrecting into the oncoming lane, where it collided head on with an oncoming Toyota Avalon driven by Spiller.
Zamora died at the crash site. Spiller was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
According to OSP, speed was believed to be a factor in the wreck.
The highway was impacted for around four hours while police investigated.
An investigation is underway.
