1 Killed, Several Hurt in Contra Costa County Crash on Vasco Road near Byron

Contra Costa County, California (June 21, 2023) – One person was killed and several others injured after a multi-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in eastern Contra Costa County.
The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to the deadly crash at around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Vasco Road and Camino Diablo, south of Brentwood near Byron.

Two pickup trucks and a service van were involved in the accident. The events leading up to the collision were not immediately established.
One person, whose identity was upheld pending notification of the next of kin, died in the crash.
Three people sustained injuries. Two victims were airlifted to a hospital, while the third victim was taken by ground ambulance.
For several hours, Vasco Road was shut down, a vital link between Eastern Contra Costa County and Livermore in both directions.
