Yavapai County, Arizona (September 27, 2023) – On Wednesday morning, authorities are investigating a tragic traffic collision involving a big rig on Highway 89 in Yavapai County.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said the deadly crash occurred around 6 a.m. on State Route 89 at milepost 336 near Paulden, north of Prescott.

According to the Central Arizona Fire and Medical, a semi-truck and a second vehicle collided in the location in unclear circumstances.

At least one person suffered fatal injuries.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.

The wreck shut down State Route 89 from Old Highway 89 to Sweet Valley Road for several hours.

Motorists are urged to use alternative routes.
