Douglas Hunt Identified as Good Samaritan Killed in Loop 202 Crash

Phoenix, Arizona (September 26, 2023) – Authorities identified the good Samaritan who was killed in a crash on Loop 202 Sunday as 34-year-old Douglas Scott Hunt.

The Mesa resident was involved in the accident just before 4 a.m. on eastbound Loop 202 at 32nd Street.

According to investigators, a driver who was involved in a hit-and-run collision on I-17 earlier in the morning got involved in another crash on Loop 202 at 32nd Street.

Hunt and another person stopped to offer help.

As they were offering help, another vehicle hit Hunt. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Two other drivers were hospitalized with serious injuries. A 5-month-old infant was also hospitalized in stable condition.

Four vehicles were involved in the collision.

Investigators said DUI was a possible factor in the accident.
