Officer Jeremy Cooper Among 2 Injured in Highway 49 Accident in San Andreas

San Andreas, California (August 19, 2021) – CHP Officer Jeremy Cooper, 38, of San Andreas was among two people injured in a crash on Highway 49 near San Andreas on Thursday afternoon, according to the authorities.

The wreck happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. near Ponderosa Way.

According to the report, Trinity Ames, 17, of San Andreas, was driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra on Magers Way and made a turn onto Highway 49, directly into the path of a marked 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe that was heading south.

The patrol vehicle, driven by Officer Jeremy Cooper, crashed into the driver’s side of the Hyundai. The impact sent the patrol vehicle off the side of the road and it struck a fence.

Authorities said Officer Cooper was responding to a disabled vehicle near Highway 4 and Ponderosa Way in Angels Camp when the crash happened.

Medics responded to the accident and treated both drivers for minor injuries. Officer Cooper was taken to a hospital as a precaution while Ames was transported by a family member.

The accident is under investigation.
