2 Hospitalized after Chico Accident at Cohasset Road and Azalea Avenue

Chico, CA: 2 Injured, 1 Seriously, in DUI 2-Vehicle Collision at Cohasset Road and Azalea Avenue

Chico, California (August 18, 2021) – Two people were hospitalized after being involved in an alleged DUI traffic collision in Chico Tuesday afternoon.

The two-vehicle accident was reported at approximately 2:48 p.m. near Cohasset Road and Azalea Avenue.

A Mazda 3 was reportedly making a left turn onto Cohasset from Azalea Avenue when it was struck by a Dodge Charger that was moving north on Cohasset Road at a high rate of speed.

Chico 2-Vehicle Accident

A 17-year-old passenger riding in the Mazda sustained minor injuries while its driver suffered major injuries in the accident.

The motorist was transported to the Enloe Medical Center for medication

The speeding driver, who was intoxicated at the collision time, sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital after the crash.

Officials later arrested the suspect on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The accident resulted in the closure of the intersection for an unknown time.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
