San Pablo, CA. – A Caltrans worker was hit and seriously injured by a motorcyclist early Saturday morning on Interstate 80 near San Pablo, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident happened around 1:42 a.m. at a construction site in the eastbound lanes of the interstate just west of El Portal Drive.
The report said a Caltrans employee was struck by a motorcycle under unclear circumstances.
The victim sustained major injuries in the crash. Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and transported the patient to the hospital in an unknown condition.
It was unclear if the motorcyclist was injured.
The crash is under investigation.
