Bridget Connell and Nyx Connell Killed in Columbia County Crash on Highway 30

Columbia County, OR. – Bridget Ann Connell, 54, and Nyx Ariel Connell, 47, both residents of Scappoose were killed in a multi-vehicle collision that happened in Columbia County on Friday morning.

According to the Oregon State Police, the accident was reported at about 8:08 on July 26, on State Route 30 near milepost 51.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Bridget was driving a Kia Soul and attempted to turn left into Valley Veterinary Clinic when she was rear-ended by a westbound GMC Sierra driven by William Eugene Howard, 56, of Rainer.

The collision sent the Kia into the eastbound lane where it collided head-on with an eastbound Dodge Journey operated by Jennifer Lynn Huff, 33, of Westport.

Bridget and the passenger, Nyx, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Howard, Huff, and passengers in his vehicle, a 6- 6-year-old male and a 10-year-old female were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The highway was impacted for several hours during the on-site investigation.

An investigation is ongoing.
