Ashley Slavens Killed in Cottonwood Crash on Bowman Road near Adams Road

Shasta, CA. – Ashley Slavens, 34, of , has been identified as the woman who died in a car crash that happened on Monday morning near Cottonwood in Shasta County.

The 4:40 a.m. accident happened on Bowman Road, near Adams Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Slavens was driving a 2010 Chevy Equinox west on Bowman when she drifted into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 2018 Ford F-150 operated by Joshua Gay, 39, of Cottonwood.

Both drivers were trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated.

Slavens was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding where she died while receiving treatment.

Joshua was also hospitalized with moderate injuries.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
