The CHP said a Lexus sedan was traveling eastbound on Varner Road when it drifted onto the right dirt shoulder and the driver lost control of the car

Palm Desert, CA.- The man who died in a collision that happened in Palm Desert on Tuesday morning has been identified as Andrew Castellanos, 18, of Cathedral City, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash that occurred on Varner Road near Washington Street just before 8:00 a.m.
The CHP said a Lexus sedan was traveling eastbound on Varner Road when it drifted onto the right dirt shoulder and the driver lost control of the car.
The driver then overcorrected and moved into the westbound side of Varner Road, where the sedan collided with an oncoming white Ford pickup truck pulling a utility trailer.
CHP said Castellanos, who was driving the sedan, died in the accident.
Two men riding in the truck complained of pain.
The CHP is investigating the collision.
