Spokane Valley, WA. – 6-year-old Amber Arnold died on New Year's Eve after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Spokane Valley, the medical examiner's office reported.
The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. December 31 on Appleway Avenue near Michigan Street.
The Spokane Valley Police Department said Arnold was crossing Appleway Avenue when she was hit by a 2000 Honda passenger car.
Arnold died at the scene. Her death was a result of blunt-force injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver of the car, a woman in her 70s, stopped and remained at the scene. Investigators believed she did not see the pedestrian crossing the street.
Speed and impairment were not thought to be contributing factors.
