A van carrying farmworkers to work collided head-on with a pickup truck on Avenue 7 near Road 22 in Madera County
Madera, California – Eight people died and one seriously injured in a violent car crash that happened on Friday morning in Madera County.
The California Highway Patrol says the 6 a.m. collision happened on Avenue 7 near Road 22.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a van carrying farmworkers to work collided head-on with a pickup truck.
Seven occupants of the van and one person in the truck were killed in the wreck.
One person from the van was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
Police say most of the passengers in the van were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The victims were not immediately identified.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
