Long Beach, CA. – Four persons were injured following a high-speed police chase that ended in a violent collision on Monday evening in Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers were chasing the driver of an alleged stolen car when the vehicle ran a red light on 4th Street and Cherry Avenue and crashed into a passenger vehicle heading southbound on Cherry Avenue.
The crash impact caused the suspect car to hit three unoccupied parked vehicles at the crash site.
The adult male driver of the suspect car exited the vehicle and tried to run on foot. He was later arrested in the 2000 block of Florida Street.
A second male suspect in the passenger seat was pinned in the wreckage. He was extricated by police.
The two suspects sustained upper body injuries and were hospitalized. Both were in stable condition.
Two men in the passenger vehicle, who were not involved in the pursuit, suffered upper-body injuries and were hospitalized. The two were listed in stable condition.
Police blocked the intersection to give way to an on-scene investigation and a cleaning operation.
