Shandon, CA.- The three people who were killed in a wrong-way collision in Shandon on Sunday night have been identified.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck took place on Highway 46 near West Center Street at around 10:28 p.m. July 28.
The CHP said a driver traveling the wrong way on Highway 46 slammed head-on into an oncoming vehicle.
The driver and two passengers in the second vehicle were killed in the incident.
The CHP identified the deceased victims as Francisco Polina Sainz, 27, of Reedley, Rosalinda Bucio, 24, of Cutler, and Yvette Guzman, 32, of Sanger.
The wrong-way driver was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries.
A Bakersfield man driving a third vehicle involved in the crash was treated for minor injuries.
The CHP is investigating the incident.
