A big rig overturned after colliding with a car on at Bogue Road, and the crash left two people seriously hurt

, Calif. – Two people were seriously injured in a head-on collision involving a big rig that happened Wednesday night near an intersection in South Yuba City.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened around 8:43 p.m. on northbound Highway 99 at Bogue Road.

A semi-truck loaded with rice pallets collided head-on with a car making a left turn.

The big rig overturned onto its side after the impact, blocking four traffic lanes. The semi-truck was honking prior to the collision.

Emergency personnel responded and requested an air ambulance to transport two persons who sustained serious injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt.

A SigAlert was issued closing northbound Highway 99 at Bogue Road and southbound Highway 99 at Smith Road. There was no estimated time for reopening. Drivers were advised to use alternative routes.
