, CA – A driver and a passenger were killed in a car crash last Saturday in Chula Vista, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported at around 3:02 a.m. on Interstate 5 near E Street.

Authorities say a 27-year-old woman was driving a black BMW X5 northbound on I-5 Freeway with a 22-year-old male passenger when she veered off the roadway and overturned.

Both the driver and the passenger were ejected from the vehicle.

A short time later, a 28-year-old man was driving a white Ford Mustang when he hit the back of the overturned BMW that was blocking the roadway.

Both occupants of the BMW were pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The driver of the Ford stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the authorities.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
