A blue SUV was southbound on Highway 101 when it drifted into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a semi-truck
Monterey County, CA. – Two people were injured in a collision involving a wrong-way driver near Salinas in Monterey County on Monday evening.
The 7:15 p.m. accident happened on Highway 101 near Gould Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Iris Rivas from Salinas was driving a blue SUV south on Highway 101 when she drifted into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with an oncoming semi-truck.
The semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Rivas was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Police say drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the crash, but an investigation into the collision is ongoing.
