Redding, CA.- Two girls were hit and injured by a vehicle in Redding early Wednesday morning, the Redding Police Department said.
The incident was reported at about 5:51 a.m. July 31, on Shasta View Drive near Hawn Avenue.
According to the police, Jesse Barrera, 20, of Redding, was driving a truck northbound on Shasta View Drive when he got distracted and swerved onto the side of the roadway.
The truck struck two girls walking on the sidewalk, injuring them both.
The girls, aged 14 and 13, were hospitalized and one of them reportedly had major injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
