4 Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 94 at College Avenue in El Cajon
El Cajon, California (September 16, 2023) – Two children were seriously injured in a car crash on Saturday morning in El Cajon.
The accident was reported at around 9:45 a.m. on the westbound lanes of Highway 94 at College Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 33-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Camry with her 14-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter inside.
For unknown reasons, the woman swerved into another lane and collided with a 2013 Dodge Challenger.
The impact of the collision sent both vehicles off the freeway and landed on College Avenue's onramp. Authorities say the Camry flipped and ejected both children.
Both juveniles were transported to an area hospital for treatment of major injuries. Authorities say the children were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The driver of the Camry and the 43-year-old woman driving the Challenger were also hospitalized with unknown injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
