Sacramento, CA. – One person was hospitalized after a fiery collision that happened Saturday afternoon at an intersection in Sacramento, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident occurred around 3:17 p.m. on westbound Jackson Road at Eagles Nest Road.
A gray Honda and a green older Toyota collided under unclear circumstances.
The Toyota caught fire with a female occupant trapped inside. The victim was able to get out of the car just before it got fully engulfed in flames. The fire spread to the nearby field, growing fast towards nearby buildings.
Sacramento firefighters responded to the scene and blocked both directions of Jackson Road to fight with the fire.
One person was transported to UC Davis Medical Center by the firefighters with neck and back pain.
The roadway was reopened at about 4:21 p.m.
Police officers are investigating the collision.
