Holbrook, AZ.- One person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision near Holbrook on Friday afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The wreck took place on Interstate 40 near milepost 294 at about 2:54 p.m.
Freezing temperatures and heavy snow are suspected to have played a role in the collision involving multiple vehicles on the westbound lanes of I-40.
Several vehicles caught fire following the crash and one person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The westbound lanes of I-40 were shut down following the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
