At around 8:27 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a pedestrian accident on Crows Landing Road near Highway 99.

A pedestrian was reportedly struck by a car on the roadway in unclear circumstances.

The unidentified pedestrian was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

CHP said that speed may have been a factor in the wreck.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
