Modesto, CA. – A pedestrian died after being hit by a car on Saturday night in Modesto.
According to the California Highway Patrol Modesto division, the accident happened around 9:12 p.m. on South 9th Street just north of Hatch Road.
An unresponsive man was found lying unresponsive next to a 2020 Mercedes sedan that had reportedly struck him.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The driver of the Mercedes, Jasneal Hayer, 22, fled the scene but was later located and arrested on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter charges.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
