Snohomish County, WA – One person was killed in a Monday afternoon traffic collision on Interstate 5 in Snohomish County.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the wreck occurred at around 1 p.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway near milepost 212.
According to a preliminary investigation, a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old man tried to pass a semi-truck on the left shoulder, when it lost control, striking the truck's trailer. The vehicle then crashed into a ditch.
A third vehicle was involved in the incident, but not the actual crash, according to state patrol. The driver of that vehicle was arrested.
One person was killed in the wreck.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.
All lanes of the northbound freeway were blocked for the investigation for about an hour. Traffic was rerouted from State Route 532 to Old Highway 99.
