1 Killed after Car Slams into Back of Semi-Truck on I-10 in Banning

Banning, Calif. – One person was killed in a rear-end collision involving a big rig that happened early Saturday morning in Banning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The wreck occurred around 2:33 a.m. on the westbound Interstate 10 at the Banning weigh station.

CHP said a car crashed into the back of a semi-truck for unknown reasons.

The report said the car caught fire after the collision, but the flames were quickly extinguished.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:51 a.m.

The westbound scales were closed following the accident.

An investigation is ongoing.
