Santa Clara, CA – A 66-year-old San Jose man was killed and two other people were injured following a traffic collision involving two vehicles at an intersection in Santa Clara Tuesday afternoon, according to Santa Clara Police.
The deadly accident happened at about 12:20 p.m. on December 10, 2024, at the intersection of Stevens Creek Boulevard and Tyler Street.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that a 20-year-old San Jose man was driving a pickup truck westbound on Stevens Creek Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he collided with an SUV turning left from eastbound Stevens Creek Boulevard into a driveway.
Responding officers and emergency crews found the driver of the SUV, identified only as a 66-year-old San Jose man, on the ground. The injured driver was transported to a hospital where he died of his injuries.
The name of the deceased was not released until his next of kin is notified.
A passenger in the SUV, a 65-year-old San Jose woman, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. A 19-year-old man who was a passenger in the pickup truck was also hospitalized. His injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening.
The driver of the pickup was not hurt.
The incident remains under investigation.
