Woman Killed, 12 People Injured in Seattle Metro Bus Crash into Building at 5th Avenue and Battery Avenue
Seattle, Washington (November 4, 2023) – A woman is dead and twelve other people injured after a Metro bus collided with a vehicle before it crashed into a building in Seattle Saturday afternoon, according to a police report.
The deadly crash occurred at about 3:49 p.m. at 5th Avenue and Battery Street and involved a King County Metro bus and another vehicle.
According to the Seattle Fire Department, a woman who was standing outside a building at the intersection was hit by the bus as it crashed into the building. The woman sustained fatal injuries.
According to the firefighters, a 31-year-old man was trapped inside the second vehicle. The man, who was in critical condition, was extricated and transported to Harborview Medical Center.
5th Ave & Battery St: Firefighters searched inside the building and confirmed no one was inside the portion involved in the collision. Crews determined no significant structural damage to the building. Patient that was in serious condition was upgraded to critical.

11 other people sustained minor to moderate injuries in the crash. 8 patients were taken to Harborview for evaluation.
The incident remains under investigation.
