Lodi, CA – Two people were killed following a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck on State Route 99 in Lodi Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. on northbound State Route 99 near the Harney Lane off-ramp.
According to the CHO, the collision involved a white semi-truck with a trailer and at least three other vehicles, including a black Nissan, a black small sedan, and a gray vehicle. CHP reports stated that multiple lanes were blocked following the collision, with traffic coming to a complete stop in the area.
Authorities confirmed that two people died in the crash. Emergency radio traffic indicated that at least one victim was trapped inside a vehicle, prompting authorities to request a heavy-duty tow truck to lift part of the wreckage to access the rear passenger area. Information regarding additional injuries was not immediately available.
At least one individual who tried to flee the crash scene was detained, according to the CHP report.
California Highway Patrol officers, Stockton Fire Department personnel, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, Lodi Police Department, and the coroner’s office responded to the scene. Investigators also requested drone assistance to help document the crash scene and the surrounding area.
The collision caused major traffic disruptions along northbound SR-99. Authorities closed the Harney Lane on-ramp and several northbound lanes for hours while crews conducted the investigation and cleared the wreckage. CHP later reopened the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes as the investigation continued.
