The North Highlands man driving the Honda was hospitalized with minor injuries

San Joaquin County, CA. – 51-year-old Jose Cesar Belloso Perez, of Lodi, has been identified as the man who died in a car crash that left another injured on Monday morning near Lodi in San Joaquin County.
The fatal accident occurred around 5:51 a.m. on July 13, on Highway 12 at Guard Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Perez was driving a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck eastbound when it collided head-on with a westbound Honda that drifted into the eastbound lane.
After the collision, the Chevrolet careened off the roadway and caught on fire. The fire also spread onto nearby brush.
Perez was pronounced at least one person dead at the scene, according to the San Joaquin County Office of Medical Examiner.
The 31-year-old North Highlands man driving the Honda was hospitalized with minor injuries. He was later arrested on suspicion of DUI and manslaughter.
Both vehicles were towed away from the collision scene.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
