Lubbock, TX – A 61-year-old motorcycle rider was killed in a collision with a vehicle in Lubbock on Friday evening.
According to a report by the Lubbock Police Department, the incident took place in the area of 53rd Avenue and Indiana Avenue at around 7:13 p.m. on Friday, March 6.
An initial investigation found that Carol Edwards, 34, was driving an SUV heading south on Indiana Avenue when she attempted to make a turn onto east 53rd Avenue and collided with a motorcyclist. It’s yet to be determined how the vehicles crashed and whether such factors as failure to yield factored in the incident.
Lubbock police and emergency personnel responded to the scene and located the severely injured motorcyclist.
The rider was transported to University Medical Center, where he was later declared deceased. He has since been identified as 61-year-old Armando Garcia.
Edwards and a passenger in her vehicle were not injured in the incident.
The exact circumstances that led to the collision are yet to be determined. The Lubbock Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the deadly collision.
